The Peninsula celebrates the grand opening of Gateway Plaza

After undergoing an $85 million transformation, the Bellarine Peninsula’s largest everyday shopping destination, Gateway Plaza now offers the local community an unrivalled and convenient retail experience close to home.

Geelong Cats champion Billy Brownless joined Vicinity Centres CEO and Managing Director Angus McNaughton to officially open the modern, family-friendly centre in Leopold.

Mr McNaughton said: “We’ve transformed to provide our customers with an outstanding experience and we are proud to give the local community and visitors great retail brands, exciting food and dining options, and convenient services.”

Gateway Plaza is anchored by the Peninsula’s first Bunnings Warehouse and Kmart, a new Aldi, Coles and an array of 40 new stores across fashion, health, beauty and wellbeing, homewares, fresh food and general services.

The centre is also the perfect place to bring family and friends together for a relaxing lunch, a coffee while shopping or to enjoy a casual dinner with new dining options providing popular choices from around the world.

Centre Manager, Russell Yelland said: “We are delighted to welcome loyal and new customers to the transformed Gateway Plaza which has been designed to cater for the growing local community.”

To cater for local families and to make shopping with little ones easier the centre includes an interactive and child-friendly rope climbing structure, parents with prams parking and a new parents’ room including a secure toddler play area, parents kitchenette, private feeding areas and a large baby change area.
