National Reconciliation Week begins today, and Vicinity Centres (Vicinity) is proud to a be a part of this important event. This year is a milestone, marking 20 years of Reconciliation Australia and almost three decades of Australia’s formal reconciliation process.
The theme this year is ‘More than a word. Reconciliation takes action.’ – a sentiment echoed by Vicinity. “Taking action on reconciliation is something we’ve been passionate about for many years at Vicinity,” says Vicinity’s CEO and Managing Director, Grant Kelley. “We’re now three years into the implementation of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) – a long-term action plan which aims to increase respect, equality and opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, businesses and communities.”
From procuring services from Indigenous businesses, to creating youth centres and community hubs for indigenous youth, Vicinity is dedicated to ensuring we deliver on our RAP commitments. We are also a proud member of Supply Nation, which connects its members with Indigenous businesses to build a vibrant and prosperous Indigenous business sector.
